About Us

Founding and Mission

Founded by Gretel Brice in 2018, Orange Elephant Theatre Company (OETC) aims to use the creative arts to foster physical and mental health and wellbeing. Our amazing founder, Gretel Brice, the visionary behind OETC, left a lasting impact through her artistic endeavors. In 2020, following a courageous battle with cancer, Gretel passed away. During her illness, she created a deeply personal show, “Some Things Are Meant to Be, Anna,” which she proudly presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before touring locally in Norfolk.

Our Commitment

OETC is committed to championing the arts in the East of England and spreading positivity to communities through our theatre productions, creative workshops, and retreats. We believe the arts have the power to unite people, inspire creativity, and promote healing. As part of our commitment to giving back, we donate a percentage of our ticket sales to relevant charities, ensuring our success benefits the broader community. OETC stands as a testament to Gretel’s legacy, sustained by her two talented daughters, Megan and Matilda, both professional actors, alongside Creative Director Michelle Thompson and Associate Artist Charlie Randall.

Some Things Are Meant To Be, Anna

Past Projects

We are proud to have performed our work at various venues across Norfolk and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Little Women, 2018, Sheringham Little Theatre

We were proud to stage this beautiful musical adaptation, based on the book by Louisa May Alcott.

Creative Retreat Day for Mums, 2024, The George Hotel

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and to support their mum! So, we curated a day of creativity, community and cake! Workshops included yoga and meditation, fitness, craft and creative writing sessions, all focused on celebrating the magical moments of motherhood and bringing like-minded mums together to celebrate and support each other. The day also included afternoon tea and a goodie bags filled with treats.

Some Things Are Meant To Be, 2019 Anna, Edinburgh Fringe Festival

It was a dream come true for Gretel to take her show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before touring it locally in Norfolk. This powerful piece explored Gretel's journey, navigating terminal illness and beautifully showcased her resilience, sense of humour, huge heart, wonderful soul and love for daughters.
